                                    Yoni Mudra Steps

Yoni Mudra is a hand gesture and given below are the steps to follow for the practice of this mudra.

  1. Sit at the center of the mat on the floor or on a higher seat, keeping in mind the practitioner’s comfort.
  2. One can sit in any of the meditative poses mentioned here, to begin the practice of Yoni Mudra. padmasana  (Lotus Pose),  sukhasana (Easy Pose), swastikasana (Auspicious Pose).
  3. Sit closing your eyes and bring the hands to rest on the knee, taking a few breaths here, with all the fingers opened out.
  4. Start to bring the palms together, placing the tips of all the fingers close to each other.
  5. Open all the fingers keeping them wide apart. Then bring the thumb while they touch each other close to the naval. Pressing the outer thumbs at the navel (solar plexus), flex the thumbs while showing the thumbs upwards.
  6. Bring the index fingers pointing downwards towards the floor, while interlocking all the other fingers together. This gesture will form the shape of an oval from the thumbs to the index fingers.
  7. Hold this hand gesture close to the navel (solar plexus) like that of a shining diamond, while closing your eyes to go with the breathing.
  8. Rest the hand on the lap, stretching the index and thumb in the opposite directions. The importance of this mudra is the shape that is formed, which represents the source of the womb in a woman.
  9. Remain here for about 5-8 minutes with slow deep conscious breathing.
  10. Relax to release the hands, and repeat the practice again with Yoni Mudra.
  11. The practice of this mudra can be also done where the rest of the fingers are curled touching at the tips of the nails while flexing the fingers inwards. But the most important part of these finger gesture should ensure the diamond shape is for sure formed.

Comments

  1. Along with this mudra regular yoga practice will help quiet the mind and body and may help reduce the discomfort commonly associated with perimenopause and menopause. Rather than relying on a hormonal approach to menopausal management, yoga is a natural, comprehensive remedy.
